Message I understand most of us on here have just a 100% street-driven Z. However, I would like to cover the topic of proper 'Motorsport' alignment, suspension adjustment, and setup on our cars - for the track, and autoX. Instead of just a conservative everyday street car discussion as usual.

Firstly, for those that aren't familiar - I want to briefly state that, for the track-goer, we want the best we can get out of our car, to cut the most amount of time off our lap. Big improvements (or even, downfalls) can be seen with changing suspension geometry. This, by no means, is good for tire wear, gas mileage, or anything other than good, old-fashioned, mechanical grip!

Personally, having done a few track days, I have followed some cookie cutter specs with my own car, namely from known good setups on similar cars, like the 350z and R32 (Especially the 350z, which is also quite a 'snappy' car like the z32, however responds very well to proper suspension geometry, and is an excellent track car). Here is what I have run on the track with success, from what I have seen (while, albeit still being a bit sensible for street!).

Specs:

Front Alighnment:
-2.5* Camber (I would do -3* or more for dedicated track car)
Castor 10.4*/10.9* (the more the better here)
1/8" & 3/32" Stock Toe Settings (Thinking neutral or '0' might be better)

Rear:
-1.8* Camber
1/16" & 1/16" Toe (Again, thinking Neutral would be better here)
Traction Rods at stock position.

Coilover Settings:

PT Race coils,
8kg/mm Front - 6kg/mm Rear
Dampers Set at ~11F/~13R (I change this often to find what might work better though)
Very slight spring preload ~2mm

Misc:

Stillen swaybars (Stiff front, mid-setting rear - ie: neautral setting)
Poly bushings
SPL Subframe/diff bushings.
DIF steering column solid bushing

Cold tire pressure: 31psi Front, 29.5 Rear
Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec's

Would be keen to hear from you track/ Autox guys on what your setup is, or what an IDEAL setup is on a Z32. Personally, I would like to know As there is so little info out on the net, it would be very helpful I believe. I am far from having even close to an optimal setup on my car, although it handles very well, I want to optimize it to make my experience driving it on a track that much better!

Thanks for Reading!

Nick
